That's good idea - install Virtualbox or QEMU / qemu-kvm. Any small
bootable image is good to test with e.g.:
https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/amd64/iso-cd/debian-9.0.0-amd64-netinst.iso

kvm -m 768 -cdrom debian-9.0.0-amd64-i386-netinst.iso
