For those of you interested in examining the differences between Linux and
what is perhaps it's main competitor, (maybe with an eye to deciding what Linux
lacks so that one can implement it) Sun have just given you your chance.
They've announced that Solaris for Intel/Sparc will become gratis for
personal/educational use.
No source code, but still a nice opportunity and learning experience for those
of us with the hard-drive space.
The increased availability of libraries will no doubt greatly help emulation
efforts on both platforms.
I think this is good news for the linux world, even if, ostensibly, it is a
direct move to compete against Linux.
