I believe that using WINS for name resolution is connection oriented. You must
also concern yourself with browse list propagation.
You may also need to configure Samba as the Master Browser for the subnets it
looks after (if there are not NT servers there).
If there is a WinNT Domain Controller it must be the Domain Master Brouser.
To work out the setup we need to know if there are existing NT servers, what's
on each subnet,etc ...

This is the browse list info. Each subnet has a Master Browser, each Master
Browser sends its list to the Domain Master Browser periodically. The DMB then
sends its (maybee) complete list to each Master Browser.
MBs are chosen by a process of 'election' and Samba can be configured to win
those elections if needed.
