well my config files conform to the current docs.

One thing you don't understand, Greg, is how little computers like me. I
alone managed to bring down an early release of MVS (an IBM mainframe OS)
using quite innocuous TSO commands.

I used to have to reboot OS/2 daily, sometimes twice daily, when others
claimed to be able to run it for weeks at a time. Often when installing
fixpacks I would find descriptions of problems I had (sometimes they
weren't fixed by the fixpack either).

When it came to installing Warp 4, only one person in all of Australia had
more difficulty (and it wasn't due to any lack of competance on my part:
even the IBMers will admit that. It happens I know the bloke who had more
problems and he's no slouch either).

I tried a beta TCP/IP replacement for OS/2. It got about half installed and
left my computer almost unusable.

I was second in all the world to cause ftpd on OS/390 (the latest
incarnation of MVS, runs on computers with more Gb RAM than PLUG users have
of disk space) to die with a simple ftp command. I encountered the problem
in December whereas the report was dated November. I also identified a bug
in the PL/1 compiler in the same month, and the compiler's at least 20
years old (though it has been revised and renamed in that time).

I do not look for bugs: they leap out and bite me. The fact that Linux is
so reliable here speaks volumes for its lack of bugs.

Linux documentation sucks though.
