The best newsgroup server software to use would be INN. As for posting to
the newsgroup and searching it based on topics etc, leave that up to your
favourite client.

There is a stack a various HOWTO documents located at sunsite that step you
through the process of setting up the newsgroup server, nothing to mind
boggling :)

Subject: [plug] Am trying to set up a newsgroup as a "knowledge base"
for programming lessons...

Hi all,

I'm wanting to set up a linux box to act as a newsgroup server. The
reason I want to do this, is so that I can share information within my
company regarding programming lessions (I work as a Software Engineer at
MITS). This would then allow us to share any learnings we gain during
our programming work...

However, I am unsure what would be the best software to use... I know
you would use sendmail for setting up a pop server, however I don't know
what software you would use to set up a newsgroup...

Also, I would like to be able to then search the newsgroup (much as you
can search the usenet groups) so that information on a given topic that
has been submitted to the newsgroup cum knowlege base can be easily
located after it has been submitted...

Does anyone have any ideas what would be the best software to do this?
(preferably opensource/gnu)

thanks guys...8-)
