[plug] RealTek Problems

If you look at 
http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/

it is quite critical of NE2000-compatible cards.  It (essentially) says
they only exist because Novell dragged a barely functional hardware
design concept into production to sell more Netware - NICs were really
expensive back then.

Other people have recommended other designs, like Western Digital, which
are non-NExxx and are cheaper than 3COM.  Personally I've had a few
problems with 3COM cards but never with NExxx, but then I don't run a
dual PPro . .
