Agreed.. There is no guarantee they won't eat up your HDD, shoot your dog
etc.
OK there's no guarantees with the 2.0.36 or 2.2.4 kernels either, but at
least those are tested by a _lot_ more people so hard-drive-eating bugs
and dog-shooting bugs tend to crop up within the first few days, and tend
to be posted more widely.

For example if a serious bug was found in the 2.2.x or 2.0.x series, and
was announced on linux-kernel, one of the handful of plug members that are
also linux-kernel list readers would post a message here. The same
wouldn't necessarily happen with the ac series kernel so if you're running
that, you'd be advised to read linux-kernel yourself.
I usually wait a day or two before upgrading to the latest ac kernel
(which won't be the latest anymore cos they tend to come out nightly :)
and see if anyone has any major dramas with it.

There's less and less difference between ac* and linus* now anyway. ac
series now only contains bleeding-edge new stuff that Alan wanted to play
with. You're guaranteed to see bugs there, and the whole point of the ac
series is to find those bugs, so if you don't mind it trashing your hard
disk once in a while, sure go ahead and try it, but remember the risks.

Oh, and keep your dog away from the computer, just in case.
