Mike, I would appreciate knowing how you set the 486 up, to act with those
roles. I was not aware of an answering machine program for Linux.

I have been using Cheyenne Bitware as a fax/answering machine application on
my box, on Win 9x, with an external Maestro 36k fax/data/voice modem thing.

If I can find how to do it with Linux, instead of windows, it will reduce my
dependency on windows, and aid a more complete migration to Linux.

I use a 486 with 16MB for my gateway, answer machine, fax, caching proxy,
etc. 16MB is plenty without X.
But i wouldnt spend any real money upgrading it.
