[plug] Network card problem

Hi all,

I have a machine with a network card in it that I can't get to work. Part
of the problem is that I'm not entirely sure what sort of card it is
although I suspect it's a Compex 100 meg card (Tulip compatible - I
think?). I've tried loading the tulip module (plus just about every other
conceivable module) with no luck. The kernel is 2.0.34 from the Debian
2.0 CD - I would download a more recent kernel but obviously I can't do
this. :(

A 'cat /proc/pci' reveals the following concerning the card:
Bus 0, device 14, function 0:
Ethernet controller: Compex Unknown device (rev0)
Vendor id=11f8. Device id = 9881
Medium devsel. Fast back-to-back capable
IRQ 10 Master Capable. Latency=24
I/O at 0xf800
Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xfffbfc00

I'm really stuck right now because, believe it or not, in the whole IT
department of Murdoch Uni there isn't a spare network card I can try so
they're ordering another one in which will probably take god-knows how
long.

On a side note, does Debian 2.1 come with a 2.2 kernel? I could probably
get hold of a Slink CD if it did and try this instead.

Any help on this would be *really* appreciated.

Regards,

Christian.
