[plug] .telnetrc or Expect for telnet automation?

Perhaps this has already been discussed without my noticing it, but why
are we putting so much effort into making .login scripts determine whether
or not to run the stty script when is it so easy just to make expect
invoke a script to run the appropriate stty command? Surely expect cannot
mangle the commands of a script it runs externally?
