There is no support for that card in the stock kernel, as far as I can
understand from the messages on linux-kernel, but the "Linux IDE Guy" has
written full support for the Promise Ultra/66 which he says is very stable
now. (It's still beta software though so YMMV)

The Kernel patch can be downloaded from
ftp://ftp.au.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/hedrick/

You will also need to recompile hdparm to make use of the faster speed
A patch for hdparm can be found on
http://www.kernel.dk/ide/hdparm-3.5i.patch.gz

I'd recommend if you're trying to install from scratch using this
controller, that you create a bootdisk on another PC first, and compile a
new kernel with the patch for that bootdisk.

Hope this helps
