Uh, yes, but this is deprecated. (it can be used on occasion, but not
as often as you think)

Suddenly every possible subdomain exists and can receive mail (if the
server likes it) but there's no A records for most of the no-existenent
domains... As I understand it, if it's in a DNS search path, it'll never
go onto the next domain. If you accidentally telnet to a misspelt host,
it won't tell you that it doesn't exist, it'll complain that there's no
address of that type...

It's not a big hassle to put in MX records for the domains or hosts you
want to receive mail through... ::-)
