dpkg -i xmcd_*.deb
which is dynamically linked to lesstif

You should be able to install that with alien, if you're not a debian user

Or you can download source from
ftp://ftp.uwa.edu.au/mirrors/linux/debian/dists/slink/main/source/sound/xmcd_*
untar the .tar.gz file, and then apply the patch with patch -p0 then just
type make. Links fine with lesstif.
