[plug] Shared Memory ...

I'm trying to optimise my Apache server, and I threw it on Linux to see how
Linux handles it as far as memory goes, and how much of it is using shared
memory. I've come across an inconsistency though; normal "top" lists the
httpd's at about 6.5Meg resident, with 6.4Meg shared, implying overhead for
each new daemon is about 100k.

However, "ktop" reports the same processes to only have 2.5Meg shared!! Why is
there this discrepancy? Which is correct? Are there any other Linux commands
for delving into the memory allocation of processes??

Also, is there an alternate version of "ps" available? I'm used to the "ps
-fe" version of HP, Sun, etc, yet the standard Linux (Debian) in this case is
"ps aux".

Thanks ...
