Trouble is that I can just about drive MR/2 with my eyes shut so
_anything_ else is going to be unsatisfactory at least initially :). 

As to the UI, I wish IBM would port the WPS to linux! Then I would feel a
lot happier about using it. Alternately I'd be very happy if the VM
project supported OS/2 ( http://www.vmware.com/index.html) and that I had
H/W that was capable enough of doing the job :). I still have too much
invested in OS/2 to discard it unthinkingly so my foray into linux is more
of an intelectual exercise than a full on conversion at the moment (but it
pays to be prepared though, I suppose :).

As to the problem I was having, it now looks like it may be down to the
CPU being loose in the socket (the box got a jolt the other day) rather
than the HDD going bad so I _hope_ this'll be the last of the difficulties
:).

Anyone got a good resource for learning about device nodes from the ground
up ? (yeah yeah, I know, RTFM... but which one! :)
