Gary,
I guess the real question would be can you bootup from DOS, or Windows, if so then you'll need to check out the HCL listing, if you cannot install especially Win95 or Win98 then I would start looking into the memory chips, is the CPU in good working order, etc.  One of the main reason software doesn't work is because the hardware isn't coming to the party.  Is the mboard compatible with the PIII-450, etc.
