i tried uysing the rescue disk with the root=/dev/hda1 but it still just
comes up tith the same hassles, ialso tried booting the installer cd and
swapping to another vt and trying to mount it from there, same error :/

im hoping its just the superblock thats gone, so i might try mounting with
an alternate superblock
