Then there's a problem with the Linux box.  Had a similar problem on a job a
couple of weeks ago that an associate (my wife's uncle so I will be careful
what I say) set up.  Check that they have the same net mask.  Also check
your networking files  - ie /etc/sysconfig/network, /etc/networks,
etc/hosts, etc/networks.
