No, neither file exists, so I assume that I'm okay here.  I even tried
creating a job as root, also without success.  I'll create a cron.allow
file there, anyway.  Assume just the username is needed?

Since posting, I came across a "Linux Newbies" site
(http://sunsite.auc.dk/linux-newbie/index.htm) which alludes to having to
place a link to the user cron job file in /etc/crontab and I'm pursuing
that avenue now.  But from what I've read in the man pages, the steps I
took should have done the trick?
