OK, I've tried all of the suggestions on the sound card, except to install
a completely different sound driver. None of them seem to work. For some
strange reason, i cannot get a mixer onto the system. I can get the TV card
working in KDE but am unable to adjust the level of the sound. (mixer
doesn't work, sound does)
I'm sure when I experimented with red hat, it had no problems with my sound
card, so I plan to give it another try.
Now, I don't want to lose all of my personal settings.
What I propose to do is make a new partition on one of my hard drives and
set it up as
/home
I plan to reserve about 100Mb for it. If I do that, will the system
automatically move all of my personal setting to this partition or will I
have to do that manually?
Will it work at all, or is there some better way of doing it??
I really don't want to muck it all up, or start from scratch, if I can
avoid it.
Thanks for any help.
Cheers
Rick
