On the licq list there is a thread about playing sound files while
/dev/dsp is in use. Currently if I am playing mp3's, any alert sounds
(not just licq's) are queued and played between song breaks (I am using
xmms, but happens when any program monopolises /dev/dsp) or lost
altogether. This seems to be a mixer function (mixes sounds) which
xmixer at least does not seem to do. Does anyone know of a
kernel-2.2.13 compatible mixer that will actually mix sounds?

On kernels - I sent a message some time ago about poweroff failing when
I moved to 2.2.12 and now 2.2.13. Just tried an old (recompiled with my
hardware options) 2.2.36 and it still powers off the atx powersupply,
while the newer kernels with the same configuration just halts and does
not take the last step. It could be a driver hanging it up but think it
must be some change between kernels that is not obvious. As more time
has passed, has anyone else had these problems or can point me in the
right direction. I have not come across any other cases like this
except it appears some laptops suffer from it due to bios bugs, but in
my case it works when I boot an earlier kernel without changing anything
else.
