Well, then, for X-windows, try the X-corsortium (www.opengroup.org I think)
Search for documentation on X toolkit and Intrisics. They should get you
started. For general programs, you probably want to use GTK (www.gtk.org) or QT
(www.troll.nl)
Hope these can point you in the right direction. BTW DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK :-P
