I am not sure but I have a very similar problem where SCO V5 will
distroy disk drives if the reboot command is done. If you just
shutdown the system all is OK. This only occurs with certain
combinations of hardware ie Motherboard and disk drive. What
happens is the front of the disk gets smashed. I have proven
change some of the hardware and its all fixed. I think part
of the reboot instruction has the problem with certain speed
(or maybe its the cashe) of disk drive.
I don't know and its all too hard after destroying several
dozen drives and reinstalling.
