[plug] wget query

I have been trying to use wget to download lecture notes from school.

I am using RH6 Linux, and the wget version that came with it.

One source of lecture notes includes the tilde character (~) in the path.

The lecture notes lie in subdirectories under the directories that start with
the tilde.

I assume that this is the reason that wget does not download the files. wget
shows %7E where the tilde character would be in the path.

Does anyone know how to get around this?

Thanks.
