[plug] Linux stops for other than power failures

Well, here's a new way of killing Linux.

The little motherboard on the floor behind me has an uptime of 86.9 days
(last down for a power failure ending at at 20:17 on 25 May), but a
Linux server at Smileys crashed yesterday after only 85 days and running
for "some time" without a CPU fan, said device being totally choked with
dust and tar (it shares a room with two smokers - $109+GST (a K6-II) in
extra taxes on smoking).

It kept running until the CPU itself finally went to the great
motherboard in the sky. It got funereal music, too: at Big Red Switch
time the CPU overheat alarm went off (played "Fur Elise") to announce
the CPU's passing.
