[plug] Modem Speed

The only way I know of is as root:
tail -f /var/log/messages
when you're connecting and you'll see
CARRIER #####
where #### is the speed

This probably isn't the only way though....

Now, I'm no expert with this stuff.....do I put my anti-retraining strings in /etc/ppp/options ?
like at&%e0 or at+ms=,0 ?
