Just install any RedHat or Mandrake distribution, say "Yes" to
everything and you've got the lot. Working, but not necessarily well.
Remember to update wu-ftpd, bind and a few other things immediately. (-:

Next, go through the services and switch off anything you don't need
(APMd, probably AMd, maybe SaMBa, maybe NFSd, and so on; on Mandrake
turn off SendMail and use PostScript, run at most one SQL database and
one FTP server). Then you might like to fine-tune the core services
(DNS, webserver et al), turn off telnet and install some kind of
SecureSHell daemon.

Read the NET-3-HOWTO before you start.

Confidence is the feeling you have before you understand the situation.
If at first you don't succeed, try a shorter bungee. When in trouble,
when in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout. The two great secrets
of success are: don't tell anyone everything that you know.
