Well, he was not actually arrested.  He was taken in for questioning.
It does not make the police behavior more acceptable, but I believe it
is important to have the facts correct.

There are quite a few ways to support him.  Boycotting DVD and the
movie industry companies suing him would be a good start.  Joining the
EFF to help pay for the legal fees are another.
