Change the chat script so that it stops after seeing the "CONNECT" string
(ie it does not look for "ogin:" and send "$username" etc)

Then change your pppd script and add "user username" at the end replacing
"username" with the username used for authentication

Then add a line to /etc/ppp/pap-secrets of the form:

username	*	password
