Never having used TeraTerm, I can't offer any suggestions there, but I
can highly recommend PuTTY, a completely free ssh-capable terminal
program for Windoze -- all in a single executable file (no install
required).  The best part for people missing their linux environment is
that is can happily emulate an xterm (instead of just vt100) and even
has X-Windows-like cut-n-paste facilities.

You can usually find it at:
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/

Once you download it, just change the terminal mode to "xterm", log in
using ssh and everything should be funky  :)
