Disregarding if the topic of millisecond timing has been done to death or
not . .

I have a couple of cards that I assume are RS-485, if anyone's interested.
They were originally the cards for a Top-Net network - very crude DOS stuff.
They are 8-bit ISA, with a male & a female DB-9 connector at rear.  But wait
- there's more: a male and a female terminator and a cable some 10 m long.
