My apologies, http://www.auscert.org.au/ is the correct link.
Amongst other things, you can have your firewall software automatically
report probing activity on your network
(http://www.auscert.org.au/Information/Auscert_info/probe.html) which
AusCERT will co-ordinate with other such reports to better deal with
specific threats. It also has a Windows NT configuration guide.
The stats that David gave us were quite startling. Only a small
percentage of breakins are reported. An example was "a national military
organsation" (almost certainly USAF) which tested its own security
including aggressively scanning 9000 of its own hosts. 19 reports
eventuated. There are many good reasons for promptly and accurately
reporting probes and breakins; David really should HTMLify his slideshow
and add it to the AusCERT site.
