Dear PLUGgers.

Skip this if you are not interested in the
Australian Linux Conference in Sydney in January 2001.

Linux.conf.au is coming up - the Australian Linux Conference. Many of you
have probably already seen the web site: www.linux.conf.au. Have a look at
it if you think this sounds interesting to you.

A few of us (Nick Bannon, Grahame Bowland, Mark Tearle, me, others) want
to go, and are trying to organise a group. In simplest terms, we get
numbers, get payment, book travel, accomodation and attendance, and
no more. This is not a commercial venture of any sort, and no one is
getting any profit or a free ride: everyone pays their way evenly.

Some people want to drive, some want to fly. Some prefer accomodation
in large rooms to group geek out, some want their own room. By getting
this all together we are hoping to minimise the cost to each of us.

Now, I am not expecting hordes of people to want to come, but a few
PLUG people may want to go, so why not all team up?

I have written a few pages detailing some of this and a register of the
names and basic requirements of people at:
	http://www.ucc.asn.au/~james/2000/lca/

You can email those of us who are trying to get this organised (the
above mentioned names) at linuxconf at ucc.asn.au.

At this stage, I am estimating flight + accomodation + conference
for an individual will total up to around $1000. This does not include
food or anything like that. If you want to fly over, we will book
N * number of people all leaving on the same day and all returning on
the same day (unless you have specific requirements). You can bring others,
even if theyr are not attending the conference: patrners, etc, who
want to fly over with you/us, and stay with you. Just make it clear to us.

So, read the web page and follow the instructions, contact
linuxconf at ucc.asn.au if you have any questions (or me james at rcpt.to,
mobile 0417 77 22 86). And do this before November 23 because I'd like
to get cheap flights.

Yours,
  James
