Try restart (often ``/etc/rc.d/init.d/sshd restart''), I think it does exactly
the same thing as stop/start for sshd. If this is a Debian system, the path to
the sshd script may be different, but it _will_ be in /etc somewhere. If this is
a recent Mandrake system, check that the line ALL:ALL does not exist in
/etc/hosts.deny - and you should be able to key ``service sshd restart'' which
does look more civilised than all of those slashes and dots.
