I can highly recommend IMP (part of the Horde project).  It will
allow you to setup web-based mail that can connect to either POP3
or IMAP servers and runs very nicely.

Have a look at www.horde.org for more info and a demo, and then
just grab the packages (potato and woody are both pretty up to
date).
(I'd point you at the one I have setup to check out, but it's on
the other side of a fairly slow link  :)
