not normally  this is what i use on the other box for email accounts

[root@**** gazza]# cd /usr/sbin
[root@***** sbin]# ./useradd -g users -m -c gary-smith  doggy
[root@***** sbin]# passwd doggy
New UNIX password:
Retype new UNIX password:
passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully
[root@****** sbin]#
