[plug] Setting up a Linux Box

Joel,

What's the motherboard in your machine?  I have a similar issue on my
machine with an external lightspeed modem: wvdial says "there's something on
ttyS1, but it ain't a modem".  Same deal under windows.  I eventually had to
go to an old internal hardware modem to get anything to work.
