Afternoon Pluggers,

Could you please help me decide which sound option to take.
I have recently installed slackware 8 and I am about to configure sound
support. The Soltek 75KAV mother board I am using has AC97 onboard legacy
audio emulating < ( for want of a better word ) a SoundBlaster ..with the
usual settings I/O 220H IRQ5 DMA1 MPU-401 I/O 330-333H. Architecture of the
board is KT133A / VT82C686B South Bridge
I have been told that the AC97 sound controller is not the easiest of the
lot to get up and running. As a second option i also have a Creative
SoundBlaster 32 card that i could put in.
1) Which of the two options would cater for better sound quality.
2) Is the AC97 that hard to configure into the kernel and will this have to
be done through module support.

Is anyone else running slackware 8 with configured sound, what url's would
be of help to read up on. I have read through the CDRom version of
SoundBlaster-HOWTO is this all i need to get my sound up and running ?

Thanking you in Advance

Chris
