Thanks Leon,
on the gateway
[root at lycra robd]# /sbin/ipchains -xvnL
Chain input (policy ACCEPT: 7193760 packets, 425913125 bytes):
Chain forward (policy ACCEPT: 37 packets, 3080 bytes):
Chain output (policy ACCEPT: 13144311 packets, 18695381854 bytes):
which looks OK
and
[root at lycra robd]#echo 1 >/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
fixes that problem.
but it still doesnt work. Perhaps the gateway needs a reboot for the
change to ip_forward to take effect?
from the desktop machine i can
1) ping the gateway
ping 192.168.13.254
2) ping the address that the gateway is known by on the ppp0 connection
ping 130.116.4.91
3) but no further.
I am busy working my way through the Masquerading HOWTO as suggested by
a previous poster
bye
rob
