Pluggers,
Occasionally I get the following kind of errors from a ping:
~ :ping 10.0.1.2
PING 10.0.1.2 (10.0.1.2) from 10.0.1.6 : 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 10.0.1.2: icmp_seq=1 ttl=128 time=0.6 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.1.2: icmp_seq=0 ttl=128 time=997.5 ms
wrong data byte #8 should be 0x83 but was 0x82

A certain part of the message is obvious but what is the likely cause?
Bad NIC, Congestion, bad HUB?? Any pointers appreciated.
