[plug] wvdial problems

Just when I thought I had almost got there, I tried wvdial [i don't think i want to fiddle with pppd] after running wvdialconf which worked wonderfully....read the man pages....and it dialed, connected but nothing happens from there onwards.... I ran BitchX, zicq, pine[not configured yet], lynx, and ncftp but nothing seems to connect... my isp[dingoblue] does not require me to enter the DNS or gateway settings so windows setup is a breeze.... Anyone have any ideas ??? Here's the following output [i've changed my login details btw] :
