Relax, you dont need RPM to install anything - its just easier.

Do you have another system to copy rpm from? If you did an "rpm -e rpm"
and erased the whole package, use "rpm -ql rpm" to see what files are
needed. rpm2cpio isnt part of the rpm package :)

Is your /var/lib/rpm/* database still intact?
