Two terrifically useful books are:
- The Perl Cookbook by Tom Christiansen and Nathan Torkington - also
published by O'Reilly
- Object Oriented Perl by Damien Conway (of Monash University) published
by Manning
The first, as its name implies, contains many commented patterns for
solving commonly-encountered problems. The second is pretty much
essential if you want to get serious about writing anything more than
quick-and-dirty scripts.
Also browse around www.perl.com and www.perlmonks.org
The O'Reilly-Perl symbiosis is so strong that Larry Wall is paid a
salary by O'Reilly to do whatever he feels like doing.
