Hi list,
I fixed my rpm
I just copied a binary from another machine onto /bin/rpm
then
# rpm -q rpm
rpm-4.0.3-0.6.6x
# rpm --version
RPM version 3.0
so it still thinks that it is a version 4.0.3 because
this is what is in the database but the binary knows that
it is 3.0 something. But it works
I still cant install the original package that started the problem
as it requires a newer rpm -- still I am glad to have it fixed.
Rpm is nice if it is working -- but a disaster if it goes wrong.

Java has certainly revolutionized marketing and litigation.
