[plug] AutoPPP

Hi All,

I have a client that uses one RH7.0 as an internet gateway and dial-in
server for a small number of staff.

They currently use a script to log their dial-up users onto their system.
They would like to change it to AutoPPP so they don't have to mess around
with scripts for new users. They also don't want to mess around
re-configuring their old users to take out the script.

AutoPPP (as far as I can tell) is basically running the PPP daemon as the
user's login shell. Searching for it on the net only returns instructions
on how to set pppd as the login shell. Can anyone enlighten me if it is
significanty different from what I have determined already?

Also, *some* users will want shell access (telnet or ssh), which means if
their login shell is set to pppd, they won't be able to connect with a
terminal (correct?)

Is there a auto-sensing script/shell that will be able to tell the
difference and initiate PPP if that is what the client asks, or present a
shell login if not?

TIA.

- Brian.
