I get 40+ (40-43) fps at 1024x768 in Quake3 with a G400 (not MAX) under linux.
In fact the linux performance is better than that of windows. BTW, my system
is a AMD k6-2 500Mhz running q3 will all the fancy stuff OFF. Stuff to turn
off in q3 for decent performance increases on a G400 are: dynamic lighting,
high quality sky, lightmap (use vertex). Doesn't look as pretty but you've
gotta do what it takes!
