I'll second zebedee - was orinally designed for VNC which isnt
compressed, but already does some smart cacheing. Easy to use, windoze
as well as linux versions, able to multiplex streams down the tunnel
(ftp, telnet, X etc at the same time) and can be tunneled itself
(httptunnel and the like). Simple tests I have done here show very
noticeable gains for VNC especially, and pure X (clients like licq).
Compression is based on zlib (or optionally bzip2) and the amount is
selectable. Also offers blowfish encryption, which whilst not the
strongest around, is unlikely to be the weakest link.
