[plug] patching rh7 kernel to 2.2.18

I believe it to be one from RedHat (actually this came off the APC CD). Just curious, why is it on a RedHat system (v7.0) that the one from RedHat doesn't work. I can understand if it was another flavor of Linux, but this is Redhat 7.0 that was loaded.
Anyway, I'll give it a go and report back.

Thanks

Jon, are you using the standard kernel from ftp.kernel.org (or it's
mirrors) or the one supplied by RedHat?

If you are using the RedHat one, that will be what's causing the problem -
RedHat add a whole bunch of patches themselves which are possibly
incompatible with the patch you are trying to add.

Always apply kernel patches to the original, Linus Torvalds-blessed
source, unless stated otherwise.
