[plug] LVM in Mandrake 8.1 - fresh install won't boot

Hi Plug, impressed by the idea of LVM I installed it in a system using the 
gui installation.
All appeared to go well but the thing won't boot.
I guess LVM is installed as a kernel module.
Any chance things might work if I compiled the kernel to include LVM inside 
it?
Or is there something else I should check?
