Hmmm... You're right about the client configuration -- it wasn't
switched on there.  However, it was enabled in the server's
configuration file and since the forwarding work is done by the server
and not the client I had assumed this was all that should have been
required.  Either way, it certainly doesn't happen "automatically" the
way the documentation suggests.
